Frank 2018 Conference

Editorial Design | Misc Collateral | Illustration

Frank 2018 was the second year working alongside my design partner, Bela Cunningham, and the first year working with creative director, Benny Torres, to develop a visual identity for the gathering. Frank is hosted by the College of Journalism and Communication at the University of Florida. The theme for 2018 was play, which gave us the space to freely experiment with what we wanted the branding to look like. The deliverables included save the dates, nametags, programs, water bottle and an umbrella.

The save the dates were designed as an idea generator game called "Change Shaker". The orange dice represents social issues, the green dice is for emotions and the pink one determines the audience. The user is supposed to shake the dice in the cup, roll and then must quickly develop a communication strategy to reach that particular audience concerning the social issue that popped up while appealing to the emotion on the green dice.
The instructions for the game came rolled up in the tube of the shaker.

Conference materials
Frank attendees were invited to decorate lanyards with social issues buttons. There were about five "IT" buttons in the bunch to encourage people to interact and play tag.
The back of the nametags were left blank so that attendees could take a coloring break to customize them.
The cause and effect principle of Rube Goldberg machines inspired the design for these vinyl steps.
